Art paper: in Rembrandt’s footsteps
The famous painter, etcher and draftsman Rembrandt van Rijn is one of the Old Masters who most likely created his works on our art paper. Many other artists, both of professional level and hobbyists, have already followed in his footsteps.
True artists know that the used art paper can make or break a piece of art. The used medium and the vibe you intend to capture in the artwork are most relevant in selecting the perfect art paper. No matter your needs in terms of composition and surface, you will undoubtedly find the right paper for your project in the wide range of artist papers we offer!
As an experienced producer of art paper we produce paper for various art forms, including:
- Coloured or graphite pencil
- Felt-tipped markers
- Alcohol-based markers (a.o. Copic)
- Pen
- Charcoal
- Ink
- Pastels
- Gouache
- Watercolour, acrylic and oil paint
- Etching
- Lithography
- Copperplate
For almost all of these techniques, you have the option to choose between papers with several surfaces, varying from smooth to very rough. By selecting your paper based on the art form and on the story you want your artwork to tell, you as an artist will always have paper at your disposal that suits your needs and elevates your work to the next level.
Recipes make the paper
The first recipes for paper making were written all the way back in 1618. Like an old family recipe for the most delicious soup, these paper recipes were optimized over the past generations, without losing track of the 400 years of old traditions that shaped them. The result of these many years of experience is a series of art papers in which tradition goes hand in hand with the needs of the modern-day artist.
All art papers are created with the most pure raw materials, to enable you as an artist to reach your optimal artistic prestations. Therefore, all of our art papers are resistant to ageing, acid-free and neutrally sized. Besides that, there are plenty of options in terms of surface, sizing, grammages and composition of the paper. All art papers can be supplied on reels, cut to sheets or as ready-to-use blocks with varying dimensions.
